Tickets are now on sale for MAMMA MIA!, the latest offering from Grafton’s Criterion Theatre, due to hit the stage in early September, 2026.
Licensed exclusively by Music Theatre International (Australasia), MAMMA MIA! features the immortal songs of ABBA. Written by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, with some extra songs from Stig Andersen and book by Catherine Johnson, this show follows the story of former Girl Band diva, Donna, whose daughter Sophie is getting married at their Greek Island resort. In classic Musical style, nothing goes according to plan, what with 3 possible dads, meddling friends and finally a wedding with a twist.
The cast includes the wonderful Jeannie Miller as Donna, supported by Coco Banks and Leonie Ryan as her 2 former Dynamos colleagues. Dan Fahey, Charles Chegwidden and Criterion newcomer Matt Trounce play the 3 singing dads to Sophie – Alyssa Kluska – whose 2 friends are Peta Girdler and Ada Sage. For a wedding you need a bridegroom, Sky, played by Tomi Bahat (another newcomer) supported by fellow barkeeper Ben McKenzie. And it’s an island resort, so of course there’s a chorus of people who magically wander on and join in the singing and dancing under the watchful eye of Choreographer Nicole Davies and Director Fran McHugh.
With an amazing band under the direction of Musical Director Jenny Worrell, a beautiful set and some colourful costumes, MAMMA MIA! promises to be a thoroughly entertaining show which should please all ages.
Show dates are: September 3rd , 4th, 5th, at 7pm, Sunday 6th at 2pm followed by September 11th & 12th at 7pm and Sunday September 13th at 2pm.
Opening Night, September 3rd, will be a fundraiser for Grafton Midday Rotary for their 26/27 Projects: Grafton Base Hospital Oncology Ward and Rotary Youth Programs.
