COMING THIS YEAR

What’s on in 2026

Grafton’s Criterion Theatre has announced 3 exciting projects for 2026 catering to interests right across the age spectrum, as well as a return to the ever-popular Sunday High Tea.

First up is an initiative called “Rockin’ Robins”. This project, led by new Grafton resident Samantha Willis and supported by the Criterion, aims to involve young people in Rock’n’Roll by offering free lessons after school, with a monthly Family Dance Night at the Criterion. The 1st of these, featuring a live band, will be held on April 11th as part of the Plunge festival. Tickets are available from HUMANITIX from February 14th.

Also for young people is the Youth Drama Project, led by Leoni Ryan. This project involves after-school drama classes with Leoni, culminating in a Youth Play in May –“The Enchanted Bookshop”. Rehearsals are already underway for this show.

Announcement of a production of “MAMMA MIA! “, (by arrangement with Music Theatre International Australasia) has also caused much excitement in the Clarence Valley. Open auditions will be underway in March (see the accompanying announcement). With a relatively small cast, this show requires 12 singers and a small troupe of singer/dancers, so it is expected that interest will be high. Audition registrations are now open online click here.
