COMING THIS YEAR

What’s on in 2025

The Criterion’s Season Launch on Feb 21st was a fabulous evening, with music from Derecho, Dan Fahey, and Marty Williams with Dave Ash while members and friends enjoyed catching up over a drink. The 2025 program was announced by incoming President Kate Conaghan and the 2025 Grand Ewan Award was presented to Alice Greenleese who was nominated for both of the shows that she appeared in last year:  “Joseph “ and “Calendar Girls” .

Next show at the Criterion from April 2nd to April 6th is the comedy murder mystery “The 39 Steps” directed by Sam Powell who masterminded The Messiah 2 years ago. Once again a small cast of 4 takes on multiple roles in a re-telling, this time of a classic film. Expect red herrings, villains and heroes in a cleverly chaotic take on the murder genre.

Opening Night for “The 39 Steps” will be a fundraiser for Grafton Scout Group who will be taking a Cub Scouts troupe to Uluru for the Easter Jamboree. Be prepared for a giant raffle for this worthy cause.

As is usual at the Criterion, all tickets are for table seating, and all shows are BYO drinks and nibbles.  Doors open 1 hour prior to curtain to enable patrons to enjoy their refreshments or buy tea/coffee/drinks/icecreams from the canteen.

Tickets are available online at Humanitix, or with cash from Buckley’s Music in Prince St Grafton.

Further shows for 2025 include another Rock’n’Roll High Tea in June,  a musical -“They’re Playing Our Song”- in August, and a Jazz High Tea at Jacaranda time.
